Great post and well written! I have a 19-year old grandson who is high functioning on the autism spectrum and still he struggles to feel like he “fits in” or that his “normal is accepted.” I appreciate reading a part of your story here as it gives me some hope that he will still find his part of the planet.

Such an inspiring story! My son was diagnosed ASD in kindergarten. Thanks to children’s TV shows such as “Blue’s Clues,” he learned to draw and that has become both his refuge and his tool for communicating when his language processing issues get the better of him. What a way with words! My daughter is undergoing evaluations for her “differences” and I know she has a lot of the same struggles feeling like she’s being put aside and poked at and treated unlike other kids her age. I’ll have to get her a copy, she’ll be thrilled. 🙂
