Terri, I love trees. I whiled away many afternoons in a gnarly oak tree dripping with Spanish moss on my grandparent’s Texas farm. That tree was the single most important icon of my childhood–which explains why my grandpa symbolically willed me the tree when he died. It lives inside of me still, like your white tree.

The idea that the sacred tree within us can never be hacked, chopped, burnt, or carved is a powerful message and a healing metaphor. It was instrumental to my well-being as a child.

beautiful and well said – ;- thank you -;- so many have shared this experience of the young girl – its not ok – decades can pass only to discover a life lived from a deeply wounded place….because of rape, the invasion of our inner and outer boundaries…so much pain and suffering comes from this including attracting unhealthy relationships and the added trauma that creates – society is still unwilling in even this 21st century to look at the cause of it -;- instead ….symptoms are addressed and the cause continues to cause damage generation after generation
