In the words of Oscar Wilde, “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” As writing is a solitary pursuit reading reviews allows me to connect with my readers. With my first book, every negative review proved a kidney punch to my soul; however, now I realize that just as everyone will not like me as a person not everyone will like me as a writer. And that’s O.K.

I need to print this out, Abby, and follow your path of not allowing others to take over my worries of whether they approve of me or not. I have an easier time ignoring reviews (although I read every one – no willpower!) than I do not allowing other people’s opinion of me eat away at my brain activity.

I admire your strength and especially your Empower Her Network organization!
