Great article! As a former scientist turned author (oh, I couldn’t stay away from those dream worlds, too!) I appreciate this post. Thanks for what you do! Science rocks. So does writing. I’ve started working female scientist protagonists into my upcoming works, too. We need to keep empowering the next generation and breaking stereotypes.

This is amazing. Thank you for sharing your hard scrabble background. It rings true and isn’t often talked about. Your piece resonates in part because I’m the mother of a “girl scientist” embarking on graduate studies and working in her field and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
