Hi Maha,

Thanks for reaching out! You can of course get started after a 10-year break. The great thing about writing is that we can pick it back up and we still have our natural ability to do it. It sounds like you have a great history of writing and being recognized for your work on the front page, so congrats!

You’re already off to a great start by signing up for UpWork. I recommend writing an article on someone’s blog next. You can reach out to a blog of a topic that interests you and ask to guest post. It’s something you do for free, but then you can supply that post to potential employers as a sample of your work. And you can also upload it to UpWork to help secure jobs.

I completely relate to not knowing which niche to jump into. I recommend starting broad and being open to writing on various topics. As you go, you may find that you naturally write certain kinds of articles well, or maybe a particular market is looking for your kind of work.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for reaching out!

Best,

Kasia

Hope everything is good at your end. I need your help to get back on the writing track. I’ve always been passionate about reading and writing. I studied Journalism at The American University in Cairo( AUC) Egypt. I used t be so good at writing. My stories were always published on the front page and I won the best story award.

I had to stop writing for almost 10 years due to personal circumstances. The point is that I want to get back to writing but I have no clue how to start. I find it so difficult to choose a niche to start with. I signed up on Upwork.com and waiting for my first client. However, I need to have a recent article to show to the client. so would you please recommend me a topic to write about that could attract more clients.

One last question, am I too late? could I make up for the past 10 years and start from where I stopped?!

Thanks a lot for your time and I really appreciate your help

Best Regards,
Maha
