This was my best one to date: http://www.emmaleepotter.com/blog/how-to-write-a-plot-novelist-mj-hylands-advice/

Next year, I’m hoping to check out the Historical Novel Society’s North American conference in Portland. If writers’ conferences are good, I imagine a group of all historical writers (for a historical writer) must be heaven.

🙂

I attend about 4 per year but miss out many presentations because I volunteer too often and am working behind the scenes. So I started my own. See http://www.fictionwritersretreat.com for June 4, 2016 – very affordable.

You’re right. The networking and feeling like you’ve found your tribe are totally worth the price of admission!

I find them inspiring and when i was first starting out it made me realise that I am not alone and am not crazy to have an ambition to write a novel. However, i didn’t really learn an awful lot in the classes that I didn’t know already. I totally fell for the ‘getting in front of an agent’ and realised too late that it wasn’t a viable route to getting an agent. But for networking and feeling positive about writing they are worth every penny.

I always let a little guilt seep in, but we do NEED this!

Yes! A reminder that we are writers. Perfect!

1 – The reminder that I am a writer. That what I’m doing matters.
2 – Connecting with other writers.

I would like to attend two writers’ conferences a years. Feels like that would be enough to keep me inspired and connected, while leaving lots of time to write.

Today was the last day of the San Francisco Writers Conference, my eighth. I NEED this once a year. It energizes me. I wish I could afford to attend more -and had more time- but this is my go-to indulgence.
