Julie, do you write as well? I too find the connection of personal ties to history fascinating. In fact, it’s been more like revelation. As I learn about the US Civil War from documentaries, I realize some of the songs I grew up singing were from that period. When I watched a movie about Henry III, I remembered my Dad used to sing a song about a queen who lost her head. More and more I’m seeing we are in the ocean of history all the time, whether or not we see it.
