So when people asked. “What do you do?” I could say, “I’m a full-time mother” (who runs upstairs to the attic as soon as her children are asleep and writes her heart out).
I didn’t tell anyone that last bit until my first novel was accepted for publication.

Also my beautiful babies made me realise my life was happening now, not at some point in the future. And I wanted to be able to say to them, I followed my dreams.

I now wish that I hadn’t waited until I was 32 to give myself that permission, but that’s just the way things have happened. Becoming a mother began the process of unlocking me.
