As the foreign wife of a a Japanese man, I’m very interested in reading stories of other expat wives. This one sounds particularly interesting, as there are so few books about Afghanistan.

Was fascinated to see that she’s brought out any kind of memoir, but the cross cultural aspect sounds particularly intriguing. I devoured Women and Madness as a Ph.D. student many moons ago and was really disappointed I couldn’t find a way of building my thesis around it!

I’ve been a fan of Phyllis Chesler’s for years. Many years. She was one of the voices I admired most in the modern feminist movement – she, Gloria, Robin Morgan, Mary Kay Blakely… they all say what other people merely whisper. This memoir should be fascinating.
