I completely relate to this Natacha. I have had a friend call my novel (that has roots in my own life) ‘misery fiction’. I’m waiting for this title to be bandied around even more post publication date. I’d bristled at the use and thought myself overly sensitive for doing so. But your article really articulates why this term is wrong, weak and adds nothing to the story being told.
