It’s a nice change of pace, isn’t it? There’s never a lack of something to do and always something to learn.

Thank you for your comment! I appreciate it. My oldest daughter left the woods to live just outside Boston and work in Cambridge. She is almost ready to come home to Maine. She won’t be quite this remote but she’ll be in a big town, closer to nature and opportunities to get outdoors.

Thank you, Chelsea. I’ve enjoyed being able to tell my stories, and it keeps me from retelling them to my husband. He’s grateful for that!

Thank you! We’re sometimes like teenagers in that we have to do something we’ve been told over and over won’t work, and like teenagers, we learn from our mistakes. By being forewarned we probably recognize it sooner and move on.

I received an award from Maine Press Association last month. It’s given me a new sense of confidence and a push to keep moving forward. It’s been a lot of fun.

Useful tips are more important than innovation. Sharing where you went wrong (“failures” you write) so others may be prevented from making the same mistakes is a powerful gift. Every writer should be so fortunate to have a passion as yours, that appeals to so many. I’m reminded of Pam Houston, (Cowboys are my Weakness), nature has a powerful pull. Good on ya!

Although I personally don’t have much interest in fishing or gardening, I really enjoyed your post. I truly believe that people have to choose to be happy, and it seems like you made that choice, even though it was bold to quit your job. Obviously it paid off, and I’m glad you’ve decided to blog your stories and share your adventures with others.

Chelsea

I spend almost all my time in nature now, despite being born in a big Italian Boston family. None of which really like the outdoors. I followed my heart & left the city at 16. Raised my own kids in rural NH. Guess we nature girls know where we belong. So glad you’re living the way you’re spirit knows is right for you.

I moved out to the country four years ago and have been slowly discovering the inner peace that turning a small piece of land into a producing Eco friendly plot can bring. I have just started a blog on recipes and crafts that I have learned as a result of dealing with my produce.

Good luck with your adventure, it sounds like it speaks to your heart.
