It sounds to me like you’ve found the perfect balance by taking the essences of some patients and putting them into different bodies. All writers–I think–write about people we’ve known, or at least personality types we’ve known. They may be family members, coworkers, neighbors, etc. But in my opinion, it’s wrong to make any character *too* recognizable–unless perhaps they’re a superhero in your book. But if you change the body type and other circumstances, then I think it’s just fine.
