Thanks Carly Watters. I am also reading your book “Getting Published in the 21st Century”. It’s a superb read. While reading the book it feels as if I am listening to a friend who loves the world of books. Your advices are superb and extremely practical.

I am a big fan of R&Rs. It tells me that a writer knows how to revise, edit and we have similar visions.

If it’s a new client it’s usually an instant spark of excitement because I need be excited and think that I can sell it. That discoverability element is what agents are always searching for. We want to be the one with the great taste that selects the right clients.

I knew it because Taylor had told me herself, but it’s so good I read it anyway! 🙂 She is one of my very favorite authors (AFTER I DO? Omg…) so thank you for all that you do to bring her books to my kindle.

I love that you included in this post that you gave her an R&R even though you wanted her so badly. When that happened to me with my own agent, I was confused on what to think and feel because I thought it meant she must not really love it. I was looking for an agent that *loved* my voice and story. Thankfully, I had a multi-pubbed friend to tell me that R&Rs are more common than not and it didn’t mean she didn’t love my story and voice (she did. happy ending. :)). And now you just did that for all WWWB readers so thank you!!

I’m curious. Do fall in love with all of your clients’ work that instantly or are some a slower burn?

Thanks for sharing this story.
~MM
