As a debut novelist, I appreciate all the wonderful remarks about appearing at book clubs. Sounds satisfying to everyone.

Hi Karen – I would say it’s a mix. Some members brought Kindles to book club meetings, while many others had a paperback copy. And some women purchased additional books at book clubs too (asked me to sign for birthday and Mother’s Day gifts).

If you’re having trouble reaching book clubs, I’d recommend contacting your local library and finding out about doing a community book club event there. Oftentimes libraries have a better reach to avid readers.

Hope this helps!
best,
nicole

I’ve contacted many book clubs in the Northern California area and only one replied. I gave that club free access to my ebook.

Thanks, glad you liked it. I would say it’s best to find book clubs on a grass roots level. First, send out a post on your social media telling friends and family that you’re starting to visit book clubs. Ask them to spread the word. Second, I’d visit your local library and put a flyer on the community bulletin board (I use Canva.com for polished-looking flyers). And you can also post something on your author web page announcing you’re available for personal and Skype book club visits. Hope this helps!

I think this is a good thing.

Hi Kim – Love that you’ve created a long-standing book club of like minded women! And yes, it can be a powerful thing to gather on a regular basis like that. I love how you say your group makes you feel “great and grounded.” Everyone would be lucky to be a part of something so special. Would love to visit, maybe when my next book releases! Thanks for sharing!

Loved it & so true! I believe book clubs are still strong bc women love AND need today that social circle that brings some much-needed “me” time & camaraderie in our crazy busy lives! Book clubs are like knitting circles which have trended like crazy again! I’m from Geneva, Switzerland but have family in Orange County & Portland & I lived in Boston. When I came back home I created my own book club of which my friends had never such a thing! It’s 5 years running now or so, we are all from completely different backgrounds, types of persons but we reunite regularly around our common love for books. I can truly say my book club is a core circle in my life which makes me feel great & grounded, especially when times get tough. I have some great sources for excellent high quality book clubs in OC, Portland, Boston AND Geneva if you would ever consider taking your “book club tour” global! We would feed you tons with a delicious variety of local foods. Get in touch! It would be our honor. All the best with your new book!

Thanks, Lauren. Glad you liked it. You must have a new book coming out! Book clubs and online book tours are a great way to go. That trend is definitely growing. 🙂

I’ve also had many people ask, “So are you going on a book tour?” with wide eyes, likely thinking similar Carrie Bradshaw thoughts. Seems like book clubs–and maybe even online book tours–expose you to a wider audience.
