Such evocative writing I was almost there – and wish I had been. I wonder if I can get my fellow authors of Saffron Walden to attend one. Thanks so much for this Judy.

I think salons are wonderful, but a bit difficult to organize: you have to find the right mix of people and the right mood for both socializing and performing. But if it turns out anything close to the one you described in this article, it’s worth it.

This reminds me of The Red Tent novel by Anita Diamant. The book’s title refers to the tent in which women of Jacob’s tribe must, according to the ancient law, take refuge while menstruating or giving birth, and in which they find mutual support and encouragement from their mothers, sisters and aunts. A great insight to another Salon. 🙂

I love the salon we have here but too would love an actual physical Salon as so wonderfully described.

Lewis.” This makes me wistful for books, music, candlelight and rain. It makes me want to create this in my own life…not just read about it. Beautiful…thank you.
