Thank you for your lovely comments – yes – think I’m going to self-publish. I shall try to find this link that doesn’t work…

You may be from SA and I from NL, I totally relate to every point you make, from what you remember and what not, from what you thought you made up, to find it proved to be true, all those different approaches in POV, the regret not to have asked more questions when it was still possible, and making peace with the past.
I hope we’ll get to exchange books soon, i.e. let’s get them out there!
Best,
Judith
PS the link to your website doesn’t work, odd characters in front of www need to be replaced by h t t p

Thank you Aine – I’m drafting and re-drafting & re-drafting – but one day it will be out there somewhere:) Good luck with all your writing.

It’s true that our memories at best are flawed and it’s a real shock to do the research and find out just how flawed. I love your definition of truth. It sounds like a great book.

Thank you for this – I have done so many drafts – but it is hard to be satisfied and hard to find it a home – I persevere:) (My memory is hazy & I wanted facts of place & time correct)

There are as many ways to approach writing a memoir as there are people who do it. I like to work purely with memory and no outside confirmations.

I made an “appointment” with my parents. They got all dressed up for their “interview” taking it very seriously. They talked, I wrote for 4 days. Wish my siblings could have been there. I recommend the parent “interview” for everyone, not just us memoir writers. Patty Kogutek
