We need to not let it take over our lives (the promotion part, not the writing). I just contracted for my first novel and I’m working on blog posts now, so I’ll be ready if anyone asks for one. I crafted a schedule for myself, doing the actual writing on Tuesdays through Fridays and writing blog posts and maintaining the Web site on Saturdays, and I’m waiting for someone or something to blast a hole in it. This is worth it, but we need to know what we’re getting into.
